Smoke Detectors

The International Property Maintenance Code states smoke detectors shall be installed on the ceiling or wall outside each separate sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of bedrooms, in each room used for sleeping and in each story within the house including basements.

Smoke detectors need to be replaced when they are 10 years old and batteries need to be replaced at least once per year.  We suggest you change them on a date that means something to you.  Examples would be on your birthday or anniversary.

Car Seat Checks

Station 2 hosts the car seat inspection station for the Safe Kids South Central the first Tuesday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Certified instructors and technicians are available for car seat checks, installation and sales along with fitting bicycle helmets. Make sure your baby, toddler or child is buckled correctly into the appropriate car seat or booster. Call (402) 460-5884, Option 1 to schedule a car seat check.
